Donald Duff Obituary

Mr. Don Duff, 90, passed away Friday, Sept. 2, 2016, at 5:20 p.m.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Greenville, on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016, at 3 p.m. Private burial will be in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Mr. Duff, a native of Bronx, NY, attended Rockland Community College in Suffern, NY. He settled in New City, NY after his marriage to Jean M. Hoffman in 1952 and birth of their three daughters, Doreen, Nancy and Edith. They lived there until the family relocated to Greenville with Burroughs-Wellcome (BW) in 1970. Don retired from BW in September 1986 after 42 years of service. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Pitt Golden Kiwanis Club and the Unicorn Club. He was also a member of Bredablick Masonic Lodge #880 F&AM, Pentalpha Lodge #744 of New York City, NY, and was raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason in 1947. He was a Shriner and member of the Sudan Temple of New Bern.
Mr. Duff was preceded in death by his parents, Peter Ramsay Duff and Elizabeth Lyon Duff of Scotland, his brother, Leonard Duff of Bronx, NY, and a daughter, Nancy Lynn Duff of New City, NY.
He is survived by his: wife, Jean M. Hoffman Duff; daughters, Doreen Duff Livermon of Winterville, Edith Duff-Loesch and husband, William Loesch, of Simpson; two grandsons, Lucas Livermon of Durham and Travis Livermon of Winston-Salem and one great-grandaughter, Dakoda Riley Livermon of Pittsboro.
Shortly before his death Don reflected on his life with his family. He said he had had a good life with a fantastic wife and daughters he adored, had a long bucket list and had done it all, and thought he had done pretty well for a poor kid who grew up during the Depression in the Bronx.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 1400 S. Elm St., Greenville, NC 27858 or Cypress Glen Benevolent Fund, 100 Hickory St., Greenville, NC 27858.

Thought of Don today forever grateful for our business relationship. We also enjoyed a great friendship he made my days working at BW great. Plus I was from Newark NJ and new exactly where Jean grew up on Ballantine Parkway.

Jean, my thoughts and prayers are with you and family. I remember the bike rides so many years ago when Don and Ellis rode and we drove the sag.
