Emma Clemons Obituary

Ms. Emma Lou Clemons, 69, died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007. The funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. at Phillipi Missionary Baptist Church in Simpson. Burial will follow in Homestead Cemetery. Ms. Clemons, a native of Pitt County, spent her youth in Simpson where she attended Pitt County Training School. Her adult years were spent in Greenville where she worked at East Carolina University where she retired in 2000 after 30 years of service. She was a lifelong member of Phillipi Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. Ms. Clemons was preceded in death by her parents, Mack Sr., and Emma Jane Hardy Clemons; four brothers, Douglas Hardy, Mack Jr., Johnny Ray "B.B" and William "Baby" Clemons. She leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter, Angie Mobley of Greenville; four sons, James Richard Clemons of Baltimore, Tony, Travis, and Troy Clemons and wife, Yvette, all of Greenville; ten grandchildren who affectionately called her "Nan," Lisa Clemons-Boyd and husband, Quincy, of Greenville, Donte Parker of the United States Navy, stationed at Millington, Tenn., Antonio and Antwan Smith, Jasmine Mobley, Malcolm Clemons, Darian Gunter, Travis Clemons Jr., Tramorris Murphy, all of Greenville, Caleb Clemons of Baltimore; three brothers, Lonnie Clemons and wife, Shirley, of Ayden, Jimmy Clemons and wife, Ethel, and Milton Clemons and wife, Doris; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Clemons and Ada Clemons of Greenville; an aunt, Martha Clark "Aunt Sade"; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special thanks are given to Hope Davis, Emma Johnson, and Constantine Little, the staff at Golden Living Center and Asera Care Hospice. A viewing will be held Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Rountree Family Mortuary and Cremation Service, 1512 N. Greene St., Greenville. At other times the family will receive friends at 416 Abel Street, Greenville.
