To the Irons Family,
It was with great sadness that read of the passing of Dr. Fred. His legacy with the medical community of Pitt County will always be remembered. To the family members, of whom I grew up with, I offer my sincere sympathy. What a wonderful giving life he had. May the Lord bless you and your family during this time.

To the Irons family,
I grew up with the name of Irons being synonymous with comfort, care, and love. Dr. Malene was such an influence for good that my sister Amy was named after Dr. Malene... Amy Malene Leggett. We have hopefully honored Dr. Malene with naming one of our granddaughters after her.
Dr. Fred was indeed a kind and honorable man. He and Dr. Malene are a great example of what a marriage should be. Our love and admiration to the entire family.

He & Dr. Malene have made such vital contributions to the medical field for the benefit of all of the Greenville & surrounding areas. God bless you for that. I only knew the Doctors Irons over the past few years at Cypress Glen. They absolutely adored each other that was very clear. He was always quick with a smile. Her genuine kindness is ageless and I know she and others will miss her husband greatly.

I am so saddened to hear of such a vast lost to all of us. In 1951, I was a patient of both yours and your husbands when I was a wee child. It was by your knowledge that I can walk and have a completely normal life as you realized immediately that I had polio and got me the proper help. I came from a large rural family with a small income but that mattered not to either of you. I was always made aware of your dedication and have followed you both with pride and thanksgiving. My sympathy is with you during this great loss and I am forever greatful
to you.
