Gladys Worthington Obituary

Gladys S. Worthington Mrs. Gladys Smith Worthington, 97, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008. The graveside service will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in Pinewood Memorial Park. Mrs. Worthington, a native of the Black Jack community of Pitt County, was a graduate of Chicod high School. She lived most of her adult life in Worthington's crossroad community and was a member of Reedy Branch Free Will Baptist Church. She had worked in the lunchroom at A.G. Cox School in Winterville for a number of years. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Glenn Worthington; and a son, Kent Worthington. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Mills and husband, Leroy, of Cypress, CA; daughter in-law, Joyce J. Worthington, of Greenville; four grandchildren, Kimberly Worthington Woolard, of Greenville, Michael Worthington and wife, Jennifer, of Phoenix, Kevin Mills and wife, Alina, Meredith Mills Youngquist and husband, Shawn, all of Garden Grove, Calif.; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Mrs. Reba S. Cannon, of Black Jack. The family will receive friends tonight from 5:30 to 7:30 at Wilkerson Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Reedy Branch Free Will Baptist Church, 4464 Reedy Branch Road, Winterville, NC 28590.
