J. Lawrence Speight

NEW BERN -J. Lawrence Speight, 61, of New Bern died Monday, July 23, 2007 at Craven Regional Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church. Lawrence was a Certified Public Accountant at the firm he established in 1975. He graduated from Grifton High School and East Carolina University. He enjoyed golfing, boating, woodworking and antique cars. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Joseph and Helen Sellars Speight. He is survived by his wife, Linda; two sons, Joseph Lawrence Speight Jr. and wife, Brandie, of Warner Robins, Ga. and John C. Speight of Greenville; a daughter, Rachel S. Foxworth and husband, Robert, of Holly Springs and their mother, Julia C. Speight of New Bern; a brother, Lowell "Buck" Speight and wife, Nell, of Greenville; nephew, Lowell J. Speight; niece, Chandra Cerutti, both of Greenville; and grandchildren, Hannah, Emily, and Lawren Speight, and Robert and Sam Foxworth. The family will receive friends tonight from 6-8 at Cotten Funeral Home.
