Johnny Vernon Phelps

I'm deeply saddened for the family's loss, I send my condolence. I don't have much memory of Jean as we have not had any contact for probably more than 50 years. I do have memories of visiting Mr. Joe and Ms. Doris with my parents (Vernon and Surreatha Phelps) when I was a little boy. Mr. Joe and my dad were 1st cousins. I being younger than Jean, Dean and Thomas, well you know how that is, when you're 18, an 8 year old doesn't hold your attention. Anyway, I wish the family peace and comfort knowing that there "IS" as better place than here.

I am sorry for your family's loss. I remember hearing about Jean Phelps and her sister Dean when I was growing up. My next memory is teaching Ben, Clayton and Dana at Bear Grass School. I also taught Megan and Lauren at ECU. Piggly Wiggly will never be the same without seeing Jean at the cash register. Recently I found out that Jean and I were a little bit kin. I was a Mobley and there are Wynnes in my background.
May you find some comfort in knowing others are remembering you in prayer.

I am so sorry at your loss. Ms. Manning was always so happy and kind when she would visit Dana at work in Pitt County. I pray that the Lord will comfort you all as only He can.
