AYDEN - Jesse Stancill Jr., 92, passed away on August 26, 2025. Jesse was a devoted father, brother, and "Papa." He exemplified the values of hard work, kindness, and strength throughout his life.
A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, September 14, at 3:00 p.m. at Timothy Christian Church in Ayden. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Jesse, son of the late Jesse and Annie Stancill, was a lifelong resident of Gardnerville, Ayden, NC. He was a friend to all and a proud father and "Papa" to those who loved him most. Jesse instilled in his family the importance of hard work, compassion, and good character. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army and received an honorable discharge. Jesse was a longtime volunteer firefighter with the Gardnerville Fire Department. He was the President of the Swift Creek Hunting Club for more than 20 years. He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. His friends knew him by his CB Radio name "Unit 3." He retired from DuPont in 1996, following 33 years of work in the powerhouse as an assistant engineer.
He is survived by his children, Sylvia Stancill of Greenville, Becky S. Myers and her husband Jay of Winterville, Shirley S. Bunn and her husband Barry of Greenville; grandchildren, Audrey Myers of Raleigh, Aurora M. Watson and her husband Daniel of Winterville, Dylan Bunn of Greenville, Bailey Bunn of Greenville, Presley Myers of Winterville; and great grandson Callum Watson of Winterville.
