John Elks Obituary
He had retired from Norfolk-Southern Railroad and the N.C. Department of Transportation.
Mr. Elks was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Lee and Percy Jane Purdue Elks; and two brothers, L. T. Elks and Jimmie Elks.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 44 years Sandra Mills Elks; two daughters, Elaine Hardison and her husband, Jeff, and Janet Elks of New Bern; three grandchildren, Ashley Hardison, Madison Hardison and John Lilly; three brothers, Roy Lee Elks of Bell Arthur and William Earl Elks and Ray Elks, both of Greenville; three sisters, Bessie Briley of Smithfield, Va., Lou Moore of Farmville and Marie Elks of Kinston; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pollock-Best Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Greenleaf Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10-10:45 a.m. Wednesday, just prior to the service.
