Judy Wagner Obituary

Judy Ann (McCauley) Wagner
GREENVILLE - Judy Ann Wagner (McCauley), 80, was born on May 5, 1944 in Janesville WI to parents Valerie Burmeister and Paul McCauley, and she grew up in Rockford IL.
She died peacefully at home in Greenville NC on December 16, 2024 after a long battle with ALS.
She is survived by her beloved sister and nephew, Janet Moran and Dillon Moran, both of Greenville; NC; niece Lori Johnson (Steve), Rockton, Il; nephews David Sterling (Veronica), Winter Springs, FL and Stuart Sterling, Santa Barbara, CA; grandniece Kate LaVoy (Jake).
Judy retired from the Marketing Department of Eastern Carolina University as Associate Professor Emerita in 2021. Judy loved to learn and she loved to teach – first delighting in her elementary school students, who loved her, and later challenging her university students to learn and achieve. Judy loved nature and was adventurous; she traveled and explored places like the Tetons and the Isle of Skye, bringing back magnificent photos. She was especially drawn to animals and shared her life with a series of faithful dogs; her backyard squirrels ate from her hand. Her books and music were also important. But, first and foremost in Judy's life was her love for her family. Judy lived fully, and changed the lives of others for the better. Those lucky people will remember her with love and gratitude.
Judy's funeral liturgy will be held at St. Gabriel's Church in Greenville NC on January 3, 2025 at noon.
Inlieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the ALS Association, 1300 Wilson Boulevard, Suite600, Arlington VA 22209, http://www.als.org.
