She was my teacher at AES me and two other students had to retake our end of the year test and because our scores was good we got a chance to have dinner at her house with her husband Scott and I remember a dog as well,it was soo fun because I´ve never had a teacher who cared so much, she was the best she always talked about her kids and her previous school. The very first time I laid eyes on Mrs. Hungate I knew the school-year would be awesome because I always told her she look like the lady off majic school bus. Rest in heaven Mrs. Hungate your love for your students didn´t go in vein we still love you till this day and thank you for showing us that real education is taught with genuine love!!!!

Karen Verti was my sixth grade and all-time favorite teacher. I was blessed with other excellent teachers, but Mrs. Verti motivated and inspired me like no other. She lit in me a spark for learning; even making those subjects I had previously had no interest in fun. She daily reinforced for me how important it is to show kindness and empathy towards my fellow human beings. Every good and wildly wonderful thing about her was so infectious that it ultimately led to my desire to be a teacher like her. For 9 years I have tried to teach my students just as she taught me--with joy, kindness, and respect. I thank God that he placed me in her classroom for those 9 months. That little bit of time under her influence has had and continues to have a wonderful affect on so many areas of my life.

Karen was my son's fifth grade teacher. He adored her! At that time in his life, he was not the most loveable of children, but Karen insisted that he was one of the most remarkable people to ever walk the face of the earth, and so he has turned out to be!
One day--all on his own--he prepared a lunch to be shared with her. He packed 2 damask cloth napkins, juice to be poured into two glass wine glasses, spectacular sandwiches, a little salad, and chocolates for dessert. They ate this lunch together in the cafeteria, much to envy of other diners. Paul had never done this for anyone else, so I had to meet this woman--and I wasn't disappointed. She was exceptional! She guided Paul on the right road to life and we will always be grateful for her supremely positive influence on him.

I met Karen through a Bible Study while I was living in Greenville a few years ago. I agree with everyone here, that she was a "shining light" and a very special person. My life was enriched by knowing her. The bible study will forever be a special chapter in my life, and Scott and Karen were a big part of that.

Shine on dear Karen! I look forward to seeing you once more in heaven.

Karen taught both of my daughters during their fourth grade years at Bennett Elementary in Fort Collins, Colorado.

What a wonderful woman she was. I will always remember her wonderful smile and laugh, her red hair and bright clothes. Going to her house with all her students for picnics and making Christmas decorations.

Karen lived life to the fullest and no doubt slid into home base, Heaven, with a smile on her face and joy in her heart. Heaven has a new and brilliant star shining down on us all. Especially her children, Maria and Scott.

Your Mom was so proud of you kids, she loved you more then anything. May God bless you all and wrap His loving arms around you in comfort and peace. May His perpetual light shine upon you, Karen, for ever and ever, Amen.

Karen loved the Lord, her family, friends, children, teaching, reading,
writing, literature, and so much more. When I think of her I think of her love of flowers. She would bring flowers to the teachers at Ayden Elementary School. One never knew when to expect her to pop by with them. They might arrive in a vase, a soda bottle, or with stems simply wrapped in wet paper towels and foil.

I attend Salem United Methodist Church and met Karen through the Tuesday night bible study. I have never met a person so full of life and that shined so brightly like she did. She had that light inside that made people flock to her. Karen also had such a wonderful sense of humor. She was truly an amazing, beautiful and precious human being. Her faith and love in the Lord was so strong that just to be around her made me want that kind of relationship with Him too. I am going to really miss that smile of hers. Karen, we love you!

I will never forget the first time I met Karen at Ayden Elementary. She could read me like a book and was always someone who encouraged me and gave me timely advice. She helped me realize just how important it is to put family first and inspired me to be the best teacher I could be. I will never forget her love for learning, God, and others. What an amazing influence she had on so many lives.

Karen was the most magnetic person I've ever met. She lit up a room when she entered, and when you talked with her you felt like the most important person in the world. And I'll never forget that laugh--especially when there was a snort at the end. I'll miss you, Auntie Karen, and I'm thankful that you're at peace.

Wish I could be there tomorrow to celebrate my auntie's life, but this pregnancy prevents it. I will never forget my one-in-a-trillion Aunt Karen: her zany sense of humor, her contagious laugh, and her radiant love for Jesus Chris will remain with me until my final day. I'll miss her dearly but cannot WAIT to see her in heaven one day. Love to all my family, & Sam the Dog!

Karen was unlike anyone I had ever known. She was a fascinating storyteller and a loving teacher and friend. She had a way of making everyone around her feel important whether they were 3 feet tall or 6 feet tall. Rest in peace, friend.

Karen was truly a remarkable woman. I cannot express the ways that she touched me, and all of the people she encountered on a daily basis. She was indeed a servant of God, and she will truly be missed. Thankfully we know that she is out of pain, and truly enjoying being home with the Saints in Glory. My thoughts and prayers are with you, family.
