Karen Mozingo Obituary
Born on December 8, 1956, in Durham, she was the daughter of the late Dr. George Howard Satterfield, Jr. and Joyce Biggs Satterfield.
A long-term resident of Pitt County, Karen dedicated her life to serving others through healthcare and education. After completing her undergraduate degree at East Carolina University, she married Donnie Mozingo on June 9, 1979, at Edenton Street United Methodist Church in Raleigh, where her faith journey began.
Karen spent 25 years as the Office Manager of Eastern Carolina Obstetrics and Gynecology, known for her professionalism, compassion, and leadership. After earning her master's degree from East Carolina University, she devoted the remainder of her career to education. She retired from Pitt Community College and continued teaching as an adjunct instructor at East Carolina University, the University of Mount Olive, and North Carolina Wesleyan University.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Donnie Mozingo; sons John (Lisa) of Winterville, Thomas (Cathy) of Black Jack, and Taylor (Emily Douglas) of Greenville; and grandchildren Linsey, Mason, Cayleigh, Harper, and Waylon Mozingo. She is also survived by her stepmother Joyce Satterfield of Greenville; siblings Debra Holley (Don) of Providence, with children Dustin and Reagan Holley; Howard Satterfield (Vicky) of Clayton; Lisa Shank (Doug) of Ocean Isle; and Diane Henderson (Eric) of Mebane.
Visitation will be held at Greenville Church of God in Greenville, North Carolina, at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2025, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Homestead Memorial Gardens in Greenville.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Her life was a testimony of faith, love, and grace - a reflection of the light she brought to all who knew her.
