Mavis Boyd Mills

BLACK JACK - Mrs. Mavis Boyd Mills, 85, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at her home.

The funeral service will be conducted Friday at 1:30 PM in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel officiated by Rev. Phillip Boykin. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park.

Mrs. Mills, daughter of the late Jessie Lee and Retha Hudson Boyd, was a lifelong resident of the Black Jack community of Pitt County. She worked with her husband as an interior decorator in new home construction for many years. She was a former member of Salem United Methodist Church and was currently a member of Black Jack Original Free Will Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Mills was preceded in death by a son, Danny Wayne Mills.

She is survived by: her husband of 68 years, Roy Godfrey Mills; sons, Jerry Lane Mills and Mark Kent Mills and wife, Tammy, all of Black Jack; grandsons, Dale Wayne Mills and wife, Allison, Chad Mills and wife, Tammy, Steven Mills, Christopher Duncan, and Bryan Hodges and wife, Danielle; great grandchildren, Noah Jacob Mills, Emily Nicole Mills and Chad Mills, Jr. and, April and Rachel Mclean; and a sister, Margie Reel of Simpson.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and at other times will be at the home

Memorials may be made to the Building Fund at Black Jack OFWB Church, 2972 Black Jack - Simpson Road, Greenville, NC 27858.
