Michael Worthington Obituary

Michael Worthington

GENEVA, Il. - Michael Worthington, 70, passed away surrounded by his family, September 25, 2015 at Delnor Hospital. Mike is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ann Terrell Worthington; his children, Keith Worthington, of St. Charles, IL, Janet Roecker and husband, Michael, of Lawrence, KS, and Carolyn Minear and husband, Chad, of St. Charles, IL; his 5 wonderful grandkids, Thomas Minear, Adam Roecker, Matthew Minear, Nathan Minear and Molly Roecker; his sister Elaine Britt and husband, Jerry, of Raleigh and his brother, Marlowe Worthington and wife, Susan, of Sundance, WY and many cousins, uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Lucie Forrest Worthington and his brother, Burt Worthington and sister-in-law Margaret Worthington. Mike was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and colleague to so many. He loved his family, his faith, his work, his fire truck and good barbecue and banana pudding to finish it off! Mike spent many wonderful years as a firefighter, fire chief, radio salesman, volunteer and board member. His career with Motorola took him across the US and the world, with assignments in Singapore and wonderful trips to countries around the world that helped build a global network of friends and colleagues he cherished. His true passion, though, was his loving wife and family. They will all miss him deeply and will carry a part of him with them eternally as he rests in peace with the Lord.

His family will host a visitation on Friday, October 2, 2015 at 10:00am at the Winterville Christian Church, 257 Cooper St. Winterville. Service will follow at 11:00am with the burial to take place thereafter in the Worthington Family Cemetery, corner of Corey and Worthington Roads in Winterville. Lunch will take place at the church following the burial.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Winterville Christian Church.

Wow...I just saw this. I worked for Mike back in the late 80s in Dallas. A great leader. I'll always remember him smiling and saying, "Hey Bud!!". I picked up the habit and do the same today.

Ann-Neil and I were so very sorry to hear about Mike's passing. You can be assured that Mike is making out "Things To do Lists" for the Lord and I am sure that the Lord is just shaking his head. Mike was always thinking of others and not himself. He was a wonderful human being and I was thankful I could always call him my friend.
