Nathan "Dick" Wetherington

WINTERVILLE - Mr. Nathan "Dick" Wetherington, 75, passed away at home surrounded by family on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014.
The funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 4 p.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Dick was born on April 9, 1939, in Craven County, but lived all of his adult life in Pitt County. He was the son of the late Nathan Ricks and Lunett Willis Wetherington.
He worked in the heating and air-conditioning business all of his life. In 1981, he started his own business, with both of his sons later joining him in the business. Dick continued to work until his health declined to a point that he was unable to work.
Dick was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by those who loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Elva Mae Brantley Wetherington; and a sister, Sylvia Mills. He is survived by his daughter, Lorna Wetherington Dunn, and her husband, Jim, of Greensboro; sons, Lance Alan Wetherington and his wife, Katherine, and Larke Brantley Wetherington and his wife, Deann, all of Greenville; grandchildren, Ashley Page Wetherington Martin and her husband, Matt, of Raleigh, and Alea Katherine Wetherington, Stephen "Hayes" Wetherington and Brantley Stephen Hugh Wetherington, all of Greenville, and Logan Brantley Dunn and Cameron Wetherington Dunn, both of Greensboro; sisters, Edna "Toots" Hilton, Nancy Anderson, Louise Mallard and Elsie Kern; brothers, Coy Wetherington, Cecil Wetherington, Charles Wetherington and J.K. Wetherington; special sister-in-law, Lois Brantley, special nephew, Wayne Brantley; and special companion, Hazel Lovett.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
