AYDEN - Ruby Bullock Tyson, 94, passed away Friday, July 7, 2017 at Vidant Inpatient Hospice in Greenville. She was born and raised in the Ayden community. She married and raised her children in Ayden. She spent her later years in Greenville. She was a kind doting mother that always kept her children close. She was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed cooking, gardening flowers, and traveling. She found humor every day in her life. She was a God fearing woman that was thankful for life and its blessings. She was a very happy person.

Mrs. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Tyson, who passed away in 1970, a daughter, Carolyn Elizabeth Loftin and her husband, John Loftin, two sons, John Douglas "Doug" Tyson and Kermit Eugene Tyson, her brothers, Eugene Bullock, Garland Bullock, Rodrick "David" Bullock, JB Bullock, and one sister, Geraldine Worthington.

She is survived by one daughter, Betsy Bunting and her husband, Bonnie Ray, a daughter in law, Kirsten Tyson, wife of Kermit, two brothers, Richard "Bud" Bullock, Joseph Bullock, one sister, Kathleen Brooks, three grandchildren, Michele Manning McCarthy and husband Nicolas of Knoxville, Tennessee, BJ Bunting, Tammy House and husband Michael, four great grandchildren, Victoria McCarthy, Lexus McCarthy, Blake House, and Seth House.

The family would like to give special thanks to the Vidant Women's Service League Hospice House staff and all the Hospice care team, to all the home care givers that assisted with Mother's care over the years, we were so grateful, and to the care giver staff at Red Oak Assisted Living, where mother resided the last four years. The family is forever grateful for the wonderful care and love she was given by the caring staff.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at 3:00 pm at the Snow Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. James Owens, of Saint Delight's Church, officiating.
