Sarah Lou Edwards Dalrymple

Sarah Lou Edwards Dalrymple, 75, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2015 at her home. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday at 3pm at Winterville Baptist Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service in the church fellowship hall from 1:30 to 3pm. Sarah, daughter of the late Vaskar and Ophelia Edwards, was a native of Union County and a graduate of Marshville High School. She attended Wingate College and was a 1961 graduate of Appalachian State University with a BS degree in Business Education, and later a Masters degree in Business Education from Florida Atlantic University. In 1978, she was Broward Countys teacher of the year, the first vocational education teacher to win such an award. She taught for over 35 years in various schools, mostly at Piedmont High School in Union County from 1980-2000. After retirement in 2001, she moved to Winterville and was a member of Winterville Baptist Church. She was an active member of the library committee and enjoyed the many church outings with the Gladabouts. Sarah is survived by her husband of 53 years, Robert Bob Dalrymple; daughter, Lou Ellen MacDaid and husband, Greg; and grandchildren, Connor and Claire MacDaid, all of Winterville.
