Audrey June Robertson

1923 - 2014

GALESBURG - Audrey June Robertson, 90, Galesburg, died at 6:50 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
Audrey was born June 2, 1923, in Chicago, the daughter of Cecil and Clara (Houdek) Bosworth. She married Reed Stuart Robertson on Nov. 17, 1944, in Rock Island.
She is also survived by her husband, Reed, of nearly 70 years; a daughter, Cynthia (and Tom) Heather of Galesburg; two grandchildren, Megan E. (and Craig) Heather Woodruff of Dekalb, and Sean Stuart (and Celeste) Heather of Alexandria, Va.; and one great-grandson, William Stuart Heather. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Audrey was raised in Westmont. She and Reed spent a number of years living in the suburbs of Chicago before moving to Damariscotta, Maine for 15 years. She later moved to Galesburg in 1998.
She graduated from Downers Grove High School in 1940 and went on to receive her bachelor's degree from Augustana College in 1944. Audrey was a junior high school teacher for District 15 in Glendale Heights for 12 years. She was also a substitute teacher for five years in Lombard and Glen Ellyn. She retired in 1977.
While in Galesburg, she attended Central Congregational Church. She was active in her church in Maine, serving on the Board of Deacons and active in the development of the church library.
Private family burial will be Saturday, May 10, 2014, in East Linwood Cemetery. Memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday at Central Congregational Church. Rev. Jim Ecklund will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to Stained Glass Restoration at Central Congregational Church, St. Labre Indian School in Ashland, Mont., or St. Joseph's Indian School in Chamberlain, S.D.
