Billy R. Singleton Obituary

FORT WORTH, Texas - Billy R. "Bill" Singleton, 74, of Fort Worth, Texas, formerly of Roseville, passed away at 6:18 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2009, at his home. He was born in Abingdon, Ill., on Feb. 18, 1935, son to Ray and Lucille (Strickland) Singleton.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille Singleton and stepdaughter, Nikki Strawser, both of Fort Worth, Texas; three sons, Mark Singleton of Chatham, Ill., Brett Singleton (wife Chris) of Roseville, Ill., and Todd Singleton (wife Cheri) of Monmouth, Ill.; five grandchildren, Erin, Raun and Brooke Singleton, Scott and Megan Singleton, and Bart and Chad Carlson; two stepgrandchildren; and one sister, Beverly Ridel of Macomb, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Bill grew up in Roseville and graduated from Roseville High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force in England from 1955 to 1958. He was a member of Roseville Masonic Lodge 519. He worked for Alexander Lumber Company for 28 years, becoming an accomplished draftsman and yard manager in Taylorville, Ill., Lincoln, Ill., and Galesburg, Ill. Bill continued that career in Texas from 1981 until he retired in 2002. Bill was an avid sports enthusiast who loved following baseball, golf, basketball and football, especially the Dallas Cowboys. He also loved spending time with his two calico cats.

Graveside service in Roseville Memorial Park Cemetery will follow the visitation, which will be 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, at Corman Memorial Home. A Masonic service will be at 1 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Masonic Lodge.
