Carol Tinder Obituary

GILSON - Carol (Young) Tinder, 77, passed away peacefully, at 8:30 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2019, surrounded by family, at her daughter's home where she had lived for the past 2 years. She was born Sunday, December 7, 1941 in Galesburg, the daughter of LeVerne and Gladys (Brown) Young. She married her high school sweetheart Roger Tinder on Nov. 6, 1960, in London Mills.
Carol is survived by her four daughters, Joy (Ron) Williams of Knoxville, Teresa (Jamie) Rossmiller of Everson, Washington, Joanne (Shane) Burnett of London Mills, and Roganne (Mike) Johnson of Gilson; 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sheryl (Lee) Busby of Peoria, and Barbara (Philip) Leverton of Freeport, along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother (Jim Young), and one grandson (Nathan Carroll).
Carol graduated from Valley High School in 1959. She retired from Maytag in Galesburg after 30 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in London Mills. She was an avid reader and loved playing board and card games with her grandchildren. Her family would like to thank all her friends at Gordon Behrents Senior Center and Hospice Compassus.
A celebration of life will be at Gordon Behrents Senior Center, 2015 Windish Dr. Galesburg, from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2019, with services at 2:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to Gordan Behrents Senior Center or Hospice Compassus.
