Gene Osborn Obituary

SHELDON - Gene W. Osborn, 76, Sheldon, died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, at home.
He was born June 28, 1935, in Warren County, the son of Hobart and Lenora (Barnes) Osborn. He married Sally McFarland. He later married Betty (Zarecor) Coats.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Andrea (Jay) Baden of Watertown, Wis.; four sons, Peter of Milwaukee, Wis., Michael Coats of Murrieta, Calif., Charles of Malta, and John (Wendy) of Goodwine; 11 grandchildren, Diane and Kim Osborn, Taylor, Alex and McKensie Coats, Isabel, Grace, Clara and Charles Osborn, and Hannah and Hailey Osborn; a brother, Paul Osborn of Plainfield; and a sister, Wanda (James) Asplund of Oneida. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Carol Carlson; and two brothers, Louis and James Osborn.
Gene graduated from Alexis High School in 1953 and spent most of his adult life working as a tool and die maker for Crown-Zellerbach in Carol Stream. His two great passions were piloting his own airplanes and helping his children and grandchildren.
No funeral is planned and his body has been donated to science. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Condolences may be sent to Betty Osborn at Box 611, 575 N. 4th St., Sheldon, IL 60966.
