Gerald Becraft Obituary

ROSEVILLE - Not so many moons ago beside a quiet lake in the northland of the Illini the stars looked down upon a council fire which disclosed a scene that was both solemn and impressive. The whole village had assembled to pay honor to their Scout Master.
Gerald (Jerry) Wayne Becraft, 78, of Roseville, passed away at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 20, 2017.
He was born Sept, 4, 1938, in Macomb, the son of Kenneth (Joe) and Hester (Fidler) Becraft. He married Carol Ann Babcock on Sept. 7, 1958, and was happily married for the last 59 years.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, David Wayne (Jodi) Becraft of Baraboo, Wisconsin, Kenneth Edward (Cindy Perkins) Becraft of Knoxville, Steven Michael (Jeanne) Becraft of Oilville, Virginia, and Richard Allen (Jauna) Becraft of Baraboo, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Amanda (Strashe) Petrov, Ashley Becraft, Joe Becraft, Nathan (Mallory) Becraft, Mitchell Becraft, Mary Becraft, Anne Becraft, Sarah Becraft, Grace Becraft, Kaleb (Jamie) Becraft, Amber (Patrick) Flint, Matthew Becraft; great-grandchildren, Camille Flint, Meredith Flint and Benjamin Becraft. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter in-law, Ellen Becraft; and great-grandson, Macen Petrov.
Jerry served in the Illinois National Guard from 1956-1969, where he earned the rank of captain. He had a career managing lumber yards for the Alexander Family in both Roseville and Baraboo, Wisconsin. He was an active member of United Method Church with a passion for mission trips. Jerry loved retirement, eating seafood on the Fort Myers coast, driving his big red tractor for Killey Farms and traveling the world with family and friends. His biggest joy and interest beyond his family was Roseville Boy Scout Troop 336 where he served and supported the youth of Roseville for over 45 years.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 24, 2017, at Roseville United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2017, at Wise Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Roseville Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Roseville United Methodist Church, and/or Boy Scout Troop 336.
