Galesburg - Gregory Eugene Medina, 64, of Galesburg, passed peacefully at home on Monday, June 21, 2021.
Greg was born September 26, 1956 in Galesburg, the son of Peter and Christine (Casillas) Medina. Greg graduated from St. Joseph's Academy and Galesburg High School. He later attended Carl Sandburg College. Greg worked in the HVAC field as an installer, office manager, and inspector for many years, working for Lauerman Heating and Cooling for many years, later working for MSI as a purchasing agent.
Greg is survived by his father, Peter (Cheryl) Medina of Galesburg; his mother, Christine Medina of Galesburg; two sons, Gabriel Medina and Garrett (Lauren Napier) Medina both of Galesburg; two daughters, Jordan Medina of Galesburg and Jaden Medina of Peoria; and his beloved only granddaughter, Isabella Medina. Greg is also survived by one brother, Thomas Medina of Galesburg; two sisters, Trish Johnson and Christine "Teeny" Medina both of Galesburg; and his very special friend, Beth Bergren of Galesburg. Greg was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Robert Wright; and a sister-in-law, Amy Medina.
Greg was raised in St. Patrick's Catholic Church. He graduated from Leadership Greater Galesburg, and helped establish the Discovery Depot in Galesburg. Greg was a member of the noon Rotary Club, the Hispanic/Latino Resource Group, and enjoyed coaching softball and baseball. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan. Greg touched the hearts of many in his life, had a great sense of humor, loved spending time and playing with his granddaughter, Bella, and being with his family.
Private family visitation will be held at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 26, 2021 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Father Deus-Dedit Byabato will officiate. Following mass a funeral luncheon will be held at the parish activity center. Private family burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Galesburg.
