Jane Shay Obituary
She was born Oct. 9, 1921, the daughter of Frank and Frances Evalina "Eva" (Singley) Golden. She married Sherman Shay Sr. on March 23, 1946.
Jane is survived by her loving husband of almost 71 years, Sherman Shay Sr.; her children, Sheryl Ann (Gary) Clayton of Lake Havasu, Arizona, and Sherman (Shelly) Shay Jr. of Yucca Valley, California; five grandchildren, Wendy (John) Birtcher, Mark Clayton, Logan Aguilar, Nick Aguilar and Mikayla Aguilar; and two great-grandchildren, Johnny Birtcher and Kelsey Birtcher; her twin sister, Betty Dalton of Galesburg and Pauline Warner of Brimfield; and nieces, nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Greta "Dede" Booth, Gertrude "Dode" Pack and Paula Porter.
She had lived in Illinois and California. She was of the Methodist faith. She was a restaurant manager for Taco Bell for more than 20 years. She enjoyed playing dominoes, traveling to Laughlin, Nevada, dune buggy riding and traveling.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017, at Abingdon United Methodist Church, 401 N. Washington St., Abingdon. The Rev. Nancy Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in the Elmwood Township Cemetery in Elmwood. Visitation also will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
