Galesburg - Jean M. Carley, 74, of Galesburg, Illinois died 9:23 a.m. Thursday, December 24, 2020 at her home.
She was born June 24, 1946 in Galesburg to Arthur C. and E. Geneva (Stern) Carley.
Surviving is a brother, Donald C. Carley of Santan Valley, Arizona, two sisters, Cherill L. Carley of Galesburg and Rebecca L. (and Everett) Carnes of Macomb, Illinois, a son-in-law, Michael Smith of Royal Oak, Michigan and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, a step father, John W. McCarthy, her daughter, Carrie L. Carley-Smith on July 30, 2020, two brothers, David A. Carley and Robert Carley, and three sisters, Judith L. Van Middlesworth, Barbara A. Roy, and Beverly C. Boughner.
Jean graduated from Galesburg High School in 1965. She was a cook at Galesburg Cottage Hospital for 47 years and retired December 11, 2011. After retirement, she worked in the cafeteria at Lombard Junior High School, Galesburg. She enjoyed reading and making cards.
Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel. Private graveside service will be Wednesday, December, 30, 2020 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Rev. Tom Smith will officiate. Memorials may be made to National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation. Certainly sorry to hear of Jeannie’s passing. She and Sherry were always so nice to my Mother Vivian and myself whenever I was in Galesburg. Been a difficult 2020 for all and especially for the Carley family. God Bless.
