Judith Bennison Obituary

GALVA - Judith H. Bennison, 77, Galva, died peacefully at 8:58 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015, at her residence with her family by her side.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ann Champion officiating. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Galva American Legion or Galva First United Methodist Church.
Judith was born March 20, 1938, in rural Galva, the daughter of Earle and Myrtle (Leng) Huber. She married Terry A. Bennison on Sept. 28, 1958, in Galva. He preceded her in death on April 18, 2010. They were high school sweethearts in the same graduating class, they walked together at graduation, and shared 51½ wonderful years of marriage.
Judith is survived by a daughter, Deanna (Brad) House of Colfax. She also was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother.
Judith graduated from Galva High School in 1956. She graduated from Midstate Business College in Peoria and then worked for the Caterpillar Company. Judith was a bookkeeper for over 50 years including working for the E.W. Houghton Lumber Company in Galva, the Red Oak in Bishop Hill, and Dr. C.S. Dickinson, DVM, in Galva and Williamsfield. Judith and Terry later owned and operated Bennison Farm Supply in Galva for 10 years. She was of the Methodist faith and was a member of First United Methodist Women's group, Illinois Harness Horseman's Association, U.S. Trotting Association, Henry County Farm Bureau, and the Galva American Legion Hagberg-Hamlin Post 45 Women's Auxiliary.
She enjoyed being outdoors, mowing her yard, having lunch and shopping with her friends, game night with the girls, spending time with her family, her dog, Miley, watching the Bears play football, playing cards, and raising and racing Standardbred horses, which she and Terry did for more than 35 years. She was also a very creative and talented seamstress making many clothes, quilts, pillows and crafts. Judith was an incredibly special lady, you could count on her for anything, she gave great advice and always knew just what to say and when to say it, she was loved more than words can say, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
A special thank you to Caring Senior Service of Galesburg and Beacon of Hope Hospice in Galesburg for providing her gentle, kind, and loving care as she returned home.
