Patrick Peck Obituary

OQUAWKA - Patrick J. "Pat" Peck, 71, Oquawka, passed away at 4:13 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018, at Heartland Health Care Center in Galesburg.
Pat was born Dec. 25, 1946, in Galesburg, the son of Maurice LaVerne and Joan Elizabeth Kohler Peck. He attended Galesburg schools and Galesburg High School, during which time he was employed by the Continental Clothier in Galesburg. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1965. Patrick married Barbara Jean Huss on July 31, 1993, in Oquawka, and she is surviving.
Pat first worked at Farmall in the Quad Cities for a number of years and later was in quality assurance at Gale Products in Galesburg. Pat then worked for 30 years in quality control at Maytag Corporation, from which he retired after it closed. Pat enjoyed going to breakfast club in Galesburg, and was a true people person. After retirement, Pat worked another four years at Reynolds Manufacturing in Milan. Pat owned several show cars and enjoyed very much going to car shows and showing his three cars. He often went to the car shows in Oquawka and Monmouth, and liked to go to the Bagnell Dam Car Show in the Ozarks. More recently he loved to fish and go on the river fishing with his friends.
Pat is survived by his wife, Barbara J. Peck of Oquawka; his mother, Joan Peck of Galesburg; two sons, Michael Peck of Round Rock, Texas, and Robert Hill (Katie) of Burlington, Iowa; four daughters, Gina Lucero (Orlee) of Galesburg, Laura Oestreicher (Chris) of Galesburg, Betty Jo Spiker (Chad) of Oquawka, and Shelly Ragsdale (Michael) of Clarksville, Arkansas; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a half sister, Bonnie Westbay (Bud) of Knoxville. He is preceded in his death by his father.
A memorial service is planned at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018, at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka. Cremation has been accorded. His family will receive friends an hour before the service from 1 to 2 p.m. at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka. A memorial fund is being established for Humane Society of Henderson County.
