Rolland Conner Obituary

PRAIRIE CITY - Rolland E. Conner, 87, Prairie City, died at 4:05 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2011, in the emergency room of OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
He was born Dec. 21, 1923, in Knox County, the son of Clarence R. and Minnie P. Kennedy Conner. He married Betty L. Reed on May 23, 1943, in Palmyra, Mo.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; two sons, Richard Conner of Galva and John (and Diane) Conner of Galesburg; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Conner of Avon, Ind.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Mitchel Conner; three brothers; and two sisters.
Rolland was a farmer for 56 years, retiring Dec. 6, 1997. He had lived in Victoria, Galva, and Prairie City. He was a member of the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church, the Farm Bureau, the Rolling Rivers Camping Club, and Little Swan Lake Association.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 12, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Lyren Haney will officiate. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the chapel. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Walnut Grove United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
