Audrey Peacock Obituary
June 13, 1955 - May 13, 2021
On Monday, May 13th, 2021, Audrey Peacock, a longtime resident of Torrington and current resident of Vernon, passed away peacefully at the age of 65 surrounded by her loving family.
Audrey was born on June 13, 1955 in Wayne County North Carolina, the daughter of the late Norwood and Marian Peacock. She was a 1973 graduate of Torrington High School and a 1993 graduate of Central Connecticut State University. For most of her life, Audrey was a computer programmer for the State of Connecticut Department of Public Health where she helped track tuberculosis infections until her retirement at age 62. After retirement, she sold her house to travel the world — living in Denver, Ecuador, Portugal, Quebec, Costa Rica, and Italy before settling back in Connecticut. Audrey had a passion for nutrition, believing that eating better could make the world a healthier place, and always did her best to share that knowledge with those around her.
Audrey's greatest love was for her family and she was especially proud of her son Adam, who was her only child. During Audrey's final months she lived with him, during which time Adam took on the role of caretaker and they became immeasurably closer. Both of them were grateful to be able to have that final time together.
Audrey leaves her son, Adam Peacock of Vernon, siblings Barbara Kinahan of Litchfield, David Peacock of Binghamton, New York, Paula Crossfield and her husband Kendal of Torrington, Margaret Peacock of Newport, North Carolina, Charles Peacock and his wife Valerie of Torrington, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Peacock.
Interment will be at St. Francis Cemetery next to her mother in a private ceremony. As Audrey was an independent spirit whose generosity had no limits, donations to Foodshare of Connecticut can be made in her memory in lieu of flowers.
