John Palladino Obituary

Palladino, John
John L. Palladino, 82, of Torrington, CT, peacefully passed away Friday, May 4, 2018 after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Roberta "Betty" (Bassett) Palladino for over 55 years, who preceded him in death February 13, 2011.
John was born December 13, 1935, in Torrington, CT, son of the late Rocco and Theresa (Basso) Palladino. An excellent athletic, he had hoped to attend college, however, due to his mother's death at an early age, he left school to enter the workforce to help support the family. He served his masonry apprenticeship under O & G Industries and then Bonvicini Building Company working on many large scale projects including the Hogs Back Dam. During the early 1970s, he started his own business, John Palladino, Mason Contractor, until his retirement. He was a member of the Torrington Knights of Columbus where he served as Grand Knight in 1973-1974 and Knight of The Year in 1987. He was inducted into the Torrington High School Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2007 for his athletic achievements. He was an avid golfer, Yankee fan, and was a UCONN women's basketball enthusiast. He loved to spend time working in his vegetable garden and loved to cook. He enjoyed having daily breakfasts at Scarpelli's and frequent dinners at the Venetian. One of the highlights of his career was achieving a "hole in one" on the eight hole at Eastwood Country Club July 4, 2016. A very generous man, he always had a soft spot in his heart for people in need.
He is survived by one son, John J. "Butch" Palladino and his wife Pauline; one daughter, Reyne Kulesza and her husband Thaddeus; one sister, Theresa Ross; two granddaughters, Danielle and Gabrielle Palladino, all of Torrington, and a special friend, Barbara Randall, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his beloved wife Betty, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Rocco Palladino, Canio Palladino, Mary Howd, Diletta Cornwell, Anna Nettleton, and Philomena Koval.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, with the cortege leaving at 10:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, to St. Peter Church, 107 East Main St., Torrington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Francis New Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home.

I'm so sorry for your loss! I truly enjoyed getting to know John, joking with him and taking care of him. I will miss him. Always knew I could get some laughs with him. He spoke of his heritage and I spoke of mine. He was always the first person I would go say hi to, once my shift began. I will truly miss him.

Sincerely,
Stefany Mochan, CNA
