Kathryn Bushka

BUSHKA, KATHRYN G. Kathryn (Gioia) Bushka, 92, of Torrington, CT, passed away Monday, November 11, 2013, at Litchfield Woods. She was the beloved wife of the late Bernard A. Bushka. Kate was born November 26, 1920, in Torrington, CT, daughter of the late Antonio and Lucia (Delulio) Gioia. Known to her loving family as `Ma`, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was a member of the Riverside School P.T.A., the Sullivan Senior Center, and of the New Hartford Senior Center. A lifelong communicant of St. Peter Church, she was also a longtime member of the St. Peter Holy Rosary Society. She is survived by her six children, Mary Teddick of Torrington, Bernadette Krayeski and her husband John of Torrington, Diane Pekrul and her husband Edward of Torrington, Annemarie Bushka of Great Barrington, MA, Mark Bushka and his wife Kathleen of Torrington, David Bushka and his wife Kimberly of Harwinton; one sister, Mabel Woolley of New Hartford; eleven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Nick, Carl, Patrick and Anthony Gioia and three sisters, Mary Bebbere, Adeline Connors Lombardo and Bertha Beauchemin. Kate`s family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Litchfield Woods for the compassionate and loving care given to her as well as to her family. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2013, with the cortege leaving at 10:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington to St. Peter Church, 107 East Main St., Torrington for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
