Chad Roderick Obituary

Chad J. Roderick, 94, of Eugene and most recently Albany, passed away on Monday, March 4th, 2013.

Chad was born in Arbon, Idaho, the son of Sam and Hannah (Jones) Roderick. He graduated from high school in Venice, California, and moved to Oregon in 1935. He married Laura Frances Austin on October 23, 1938 in Coos Bay. They moved to Eugene in 1955 and to Albany in 2008. He is survived by his wife of 74 years. He is also survived by his son, Chad L. and wife Roma Roderick of Notom, Utah, and his daughter, Duretta and husband Ross Christensen of Albany; eight grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by all eight brothers and sisters: Margaret Olsen, Annie Thaxton, Vera Bird Masters, Sam, Jack, Bill, Bob, and Dean Roderick.

Chad was a home builder. He built more than 75 homes in the Eugene area. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served many years in the Seattle and Portland temples.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 11th, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Grand Prairie Road in Albany. A viewing will take place at 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral at 11:00 a.m. A graveside service at Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Evergreen Hospice House.
