Dan Andreason Obituary

On Wednesday, April 7, 2010, Dan Louis Andreason of Pattonsburg, Missouri passed away from complications of heart failure at North Kansas City Hospital with his devoted wife, Suzette, of 29 years and family members by his side. He was 67 years of age. He is mourned by his beloved daughters, Sara Andreason and Amy Andreason of Eugene, Oregon and Lisa Huber of Las Vegas, NV. He is also survived by his granddaughters Hanadi and Marley Jean; sister Karen Coulter of Eugene, Oregon; brother Chuck Andreason of Portland, Oregon and his stepfather, Reed Pease of Eugene, Oregon. He was predeceased by his parents Helen (Nelson) (Andreason) Pease and Dan Louis Andreason, Sr., and his brother, Bob Andreason.

Dan was born August 14, 1942, in Eugene, Oregon. He began his career with Southern Pacific / Union Pacific Railroad in 1962. His career spanned a period of 43 years over which time he held many positions and in various parts of the country. While employed he also attended the University of Oregon, graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. Throughout his career with the Southern Pacific and Union Pacific Railroads, he conducted himself with honesty and fairness to his employer, co-workers and to the customers that were served by rail. His positive character and presence will be missed by all who knew him.

In 2005 after his retirement from the railroad, Dan and Suzette moved to the rural community of Pattonsburg, Missouri. He enjoyed meeting people and being with friends and family. After moving to Pattonsburg, he became an avid grower of different kinds of watermelons, pursued a hobby of collecting and restoring windmills, worked his root beer stand at various carnivals, fairs and festivals with other family members in the summer, and worked part-time as a Field Representative for a law firm interacting between the law firm and local railroad unions.

He joyously embraced life. He dearly loved his wife, daughters, grandchildren, his dogs Sadie and Bernie, and all his family. No words can express how much he will be missed. We love him, miss him, and wish him well and peace. By his wishes, his ashes will be spread at a future date in a particularly scenic part of Oregon known to him from his rail travels. A Celebration of Dan's Life will also be held at a future date this summer in Eugene, Oregon.

I will forever miss selling rootbeer and making jokes with my Grandpa Danny. He was very respected and earned his respect. His presence was loved and he is missed by all. Not a day goes by that his family isn't remembering. I am very happy with the time I could spend with him, if only a little more. I hope you are at peace. I will always remember Scary Movie 4.

When I think of Dan, an ongoing list of words surround my mind, witty, loyal, dependable, teacher, listener. Kind and so many more. I can just close my eyes and see that sparkle in your eyes, or the way you smiled that certain smile when I know you were about to give your 2 cents on the conversation at hand. I just wanted to express the fact that you will be missed beyond words, but never forgotten!

I only knew Dan for a short period of time, but I was very much aware of his love for his wife Suzette and his daughter Lisa. He was one of the kindest most understanding and intelligent men I've met in my long life and I've met a few in my 65 years. He had the ability to see many sides of many of life's equations while some of us fumbled over the problem. He was a good man, his easy going nature sometimes, I think, might have led people to believe he either didn't know or care who you were or what you were about....don't be fooled he knew who you were. My warmest thoughts for the family I knew him with. It will take time to absorb the loss of such a good guy, people like Dan are rare. I will miss his prescence on the landscape. He was too young to leave. Keep the faith Suzette and Lisa and the rest of the family.
Rest in Peace, Dan.

It is still surreal to me that my father has passed. I am so proud to call myself his daughter. He held himself to the highest of standards. He was gracious and humble. I love him and will always miss him unbearably Amous Paulus Amy Andreason

Thank God I had him in my life, Dan taught me how to stand up for myself and to do so with dignity, he also taught me what I should look for in other people. He was truly one of the kindest people around. My memories of us going on little adventures around town, fishing with him, and working on projects like building bird houses will always be with me. I will miss him dearly, especially my daily talks with him. I love you Dan!

I'm going to miss you this summer on the road, also from you stopping in to see me every once in awhile when you came into town into WalMart. Also, the goodies you & I shared with each other that Suzette didn't know about. I'll miss you.

Love,
Aunt Kathryn
