Frank Palmer Obituary

Frank Leslie Palmer died December 12, 2012 at the age of 65. Frank is survived by his wife Lona Surcamp Palmer of Eugene Oregon, his son Reed Palmer of Eugene Oregon and daughter Ciea Palmer of Orlando Florida.

Frank was born September 3, 1947 in Danville, IL to John and Marie Palmer. He spent much of his childhood with sisters Peggy Luna and Alice Palmer in Tuscon AZ where he discovered his love for bicycling. Frank attended high school in Klamath Falls but graduated from Sheldon High School in 1965. In high school Frank excelled in both swimming and skiing and also enjoyed programs at the YMCA and spending as much time outside as he could.

After high school Frank joined his parents in San Diego and worked for San Diego Savings and Loan. He continued his love for the outdoors in San Diego and learned how to surf. Frank decided to pursue his passion and interest in the literary arts and enrolled in the University of Oregon in 1968 where he was an English and Shakespeare major. In 1970 he enrolled in the Army and served in Vietnam as an Intelligence Analyst. After serving he returned to the U of O and completed his degree.

In 1973 Frank married Lona Surcamp. For 15 years he owned and operated his own log truck and enjoyed the time he got to spend working in nature. In 1991 he opened Elite Car Bath and in the fifteen years he managed the business he grew the operations to two locations in both Springfield and Eugene.

Frank was a warm, caring and loving husband and father. He put the needs of others in front of his own and wanted to make sure everyone was safe and happy. Frank had the ability to see the good in everyone and everything and could make the best out of whatever life handed him. He will be remembered for his peaceful disposition, love of nature and bicycling and the love and good life he provided to his family. He will be missed.

Frank always wanted to help others and his wish to have his body donated for research was fulfilled with a donation to OHSU. At this time no service has been planned but a Celebration of Life will be scheduled for sometime in 2013. The family has asked that donations in Frank's honor be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Oregon.

Lona,

I'm so sorry to hear of Frank's passing! He was such a nice person, the few times I was around him, I so enjoyed his company. He was much too young for this to happen.

I have you in my thoughts Lona.
