Gary- what a personality you had! 7 years on, and I still think of you so fondly. :) The infectious smile, the laugh that came from inside, and the no nonsense attitude of what is right. Thank you for all the hearts you have touched, and how deeply you touched mine.

Gary was a great friend and a diligent and caring building manager. I loved living in the Lane Tower because Gary made it such a welcoming place. He knew everyone's name, which apartment they were in, what was going on in their lives, what they drove... He genuinely cared for each and every one of us. I'm so astonished and shocked at his passing that I'm scarcely able to find the words. He will be missed.

Gary was my dad, not because he had to be, but because he chose to be. He loved me, protected me, and was always there for me when I needed him... even when I didn't deserve it! He was the most thoughtful person ever, when my daughter ended up in the hospital he contacted a local MC to pay her a visit because he couldn't from Oregon. That's the kind of AWESOME guy my dad was. He taught me my work ethic, about honor, respect, and being responsible... mostly he taught me about unconditional love. You are gonna be missed so much pops, the world will be one star less bright, but there is comfort in knowing you are no longer suffering. I love you always and forever XOXOX

Oh Nalani, I am so very sorry to hear this.
It is the most difficult thing in the world to lose a child. I know! It is so easy to say standard things like, "time will heal: "God is with you". At the moment, your heart is breaking and nothing helps.
Grief comes in periods and it will guide you thru them. You will NEVER forget him, or totally get over this loss.
My heart goes out to you. Love, Max

Gary, you were a fine and honest young man when we met. When I came into the family as your step-father, I was always greeted with a big hug and treated with respect.
Ever since I have known you, as a son, there was never a time you didn't send flowers to your mom for her birthday, Christmas or Mother's Day. That was the thoughtful, loving son you were!
Your phone calls on YOUR birthday wishing your mom "Happy Birth Day" always made her smile.
We will all miss you but know you are at peace in God's loving care. Love from...

Gary frequently greeted me as 'little brother', and one time jokingly introduced me to a coworker as his son. Remembering this always puts a big smile on my face because Gary really did make me feel like family.
Gary's warm smile and genuine kindness will be fondly remembered, and he will always remain in our hearts.

Nalani, My heart breaks for you. I do not know why people have to get cancer and suffer. I am so very very sorry. No mother should have to lose a child. I am not going to tell you it gets easier because it does not. I just keep taking it one day at a time As bad as it is I have to remember that there are still beautiful things. I am not going to tell you it gets easier because it does not. I just keep taking it one day at a time As bad as it is I have to remember that there are still beautiful things. Wish I did not live so far away, I would be there in a minute. Just know that I am thinking of you and if I can help in any way, please let me know
Do not let people tell you what to do or how you should feel. Take it one minute at a time and do what feels right to you.

Gary was not only my son but my friend. I thank you a thousand times for all the love, gratitude and sunshine which you brought into the lives you touched; especially mine from the day you were born. The sweet, kind and loving child who became the same thoughtful and caring man! The sadness I feel is not only for myself but for the family and friends Gary left behind.. I want t o thank all of you for expressing your love for my son Gary. Eventually, we will recover from the shock of losing him but his memory will live on like a bright star above.
You are now out of your suffering and unbearable pain my sweet son. Rest in Peace! You will always be close to my heart. A hui hou...me ke aloha pau`ole!!!

As a homage to Gary Pyne, we praise his personal strength and love for eah of his loved ones. That was reflected daily in his seven (7) year battle against a terrible illness that took so much from a young man! No one knew how much he suffered with his continual brave front,
Gary was sweet as a child, sweet as a boy and sweet, loyal, brave and kind as a man.
Now it's your time dear Gary. to continue through eternity, to serve without pain as Guardian Angel to the ones you love so dearly!

I'll miss my big brother and role model, the Hawaiian Lion. I was supposed to become a rock star and buy him his Indian(and a knuckle head too). Well, I guess life turns out different than anything we can imagine. I can still hear his voice, saying "Peace". I hope he is experiencing the peace that he always wished for everyone else. Aloha Gary (goodbye and I love you)

I have the blessing and honor to have married his little sister, Karen. Gary was the first one to welcome me to the family with a big warm smile and a handshake. I think that was the only handshake I got from him, after that it was always a big warm hug.

Gary was my big brother. He did normal big brother stuff, but if anyone else tried to mess with me, they better watch out! He was a good protector. I will miss him very much! His huge heart, his laugh, the twinkle in his eyes and just him. His Hawaiian name is Kanoa which means free spirit. He was, and is, a free spirit, and is also now free from his pain. I love you Bro! Aloha 'oe, A hui hou, malama pono oe, ko'u aloha pau 'ole!
