Jacqueline Hurst Obituary

Jacqueline Hurst
January 11, 1936 - February 23, 2021

On February 23, 2021, Jacqueline "Jackie" C. Hurst passed away at the age of 85 in Eugene, Oregon. Jackie was preceded by Karl Hurst, her husband of 63 years. They resided in the River Road area in Eugene most of their lives.
She was born in Jamestown, North Dakota, on January 11th, 1936. She was raised there on a farm with her sister, Geraldine Crabtree, by her parents, Gertrude and Maynard Mathews, before attending college for her registered nursing degree. She loved practicing nursing and did so for many years. After retirement, Jackie and Karl spent several years traveling the USA and spending winters in the Palm Springs area.
Jackie was a great friend, mom, and mentor to all that met her. She was a loving mother to her three children. Her daughters, Kathi Hurst Parshall of Bend, OR, and Jamie Hurst of Vancouver, WA. Her son, Scott Hurst, preceded her. She was a devoted grandmother to Jordan and Jacob Parshall as well as Hunter Larson.
Her family and friends meant everything to her and she made everyone feel as they were important, loved, and respected. Many memories were made with travel and being with her family and friends, in particular, the TT's (the Traveling Ten), as well as life-long friends from the area.
Jackie will certainly be missed by the many people whom she touched their hearts. No service has been planned at this time due to uncertainty. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.

Your mother was a lovely lady full of life. She enjoyed every minute of it with her family and friends and she will be dearly missed by many. So very sorry for your loss. I am sure Karl was there to meet her with open arms and that big smile of his. Together again...

Will miss Karl and Jack´s visits. We´d play cards in evening and do lunch at the German restaurants. Loved going to the coast to crab fish. Wow so much fun. Jackie don´t eat any Kidney Stew. Loved you two, miss you so much.

Great photo of a spunky lady! Growing up with Kathi, friends were always welcome at the Hurst home! So happy she stayed busy and social with her friends until joining Karl again.

Jackie, you were the coolest mom around when we were growing up. Driving around in your sporty little Z cars. I will miss you.

To Kath and Jamie, I am so sorry to read about Jackie's passing. Last time I spoke with her she was looking forward to moving to Terpening Terrace, after the Covid lockdown stopped. I was shocked to see it in the paper this morning. My heart goes out to you and yours,

At least we know that they are together again.
