Janice Marie Nelson

1948 - 2016

Janice Marie Nelson - Our Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt and great friend passed away May 6, 2016 after a valiant fight with Emphysema and Congestive Heart failure. Janice was born August 2, 1948 to Clarence John Nelson Sr. and Myrne Elizabeth Nelson in Eugene, Oregon. She was one of 11 children, She grew up in Junction City, Oregon where She attended school for all of her school days.

She had a daughter, Carla Rae Nelson Neevel on June 16, 1969. Her daughter was her life. She moved to Harrisburg in 1976 so her daughter could start school there. She worked at the Harrisburg Trading Post which she absolutely loved. She moved back to Junction City in 1983 to care for her mother. She enjoyed playing Pinochle and Triple Yahtzee but She absolutely loved playing Bingo.

She is survived by her Daughter, Carla Rae Nelson Neevel and her husband, Aaron Neevel of Salem Oregon, her siblings, Jim Nelson of Springfield, Phyllis "Fee Fee" Nelson of Eugene and Norma Davis of Cottage Grove. She is preceded in death by her father, her mother, siblings -- Sandra Diane Nelson, Sweets Nelson, Nedra Nelson, Jerri Schmidt, Sharon Bennett, Marva Huffman, and Dale Nelson. Her grandchildren, Sam Nash of Salem, Robert Nash of Springfield, and Nicole Ranson of Spingfield, Ashley Neevel, Patric Neevel, Alex Neevel of Salem, her Great-Grand-dogs Layla of Salem, Bear Bear of Springfield and numerous nieces and nephews.

We will be having a Big Ole Bingo Party / Potluck in her honor on May 15, 2016 at the Harrisburg Methodist Church at 710 Smith Street in Harrisburg, Oregon at 3:00 PM.

Assisting is Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service, Salem Oregon.

To A very thoughtful and friend to all, Cousin Carla, your Mom was such a wonderful person and will be missed by all who loved her. you were such a wonderful daughter to her and I know she truly felt the love you have for her. our hearts ache with you.

Been friends with Jan for over 50yrs, we watched our children and Grand children grow, although we didn't always keep in touch she will always be a very dear friend, and be will deeply missed, RIP my friend.
