Jay Breaux Obituary

Jay B. Breaux

1942 - 2016

Jay Breaux, businessman and long time resident of the Eugene area passed away June 15th 2016 at his home in Junction City, surrounded by his family. He leaves behind, his wife of 51 years, Rochelle Breaux, his sons, Jerry Breaux of Eugene, Robert Breaux of Veneta, his daughter-in-law, Joni Breaux of Veneta, two beautiful granddaughters, Jayden Breaux and Kenley Breaux also from Veneta, a brother, Larry Breaux of Veneta, four sisters, Nita Nickell of Elmira, Linda Breaux of Eugene, Betsy Weathers and Judy Breaux of Alto, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jay was born in Stamford, Texas on April 21, 1942. He spent his early years in Hot Springs, Arkansas. His family moved to Springfield, Oregon in 1952 where he attended school. Jay enlisted in the U.S. Navy in October 15, 1959, served on the USS Ticonderoga CVA14 from 1960 to late 1961. He then was stationed in Atsugi, Japan from 1961 until April 1963 when he received an honorable discharge.

He met his wife Rochelle Mystrom in October 1964 and they were married in Las Vegas, NV on March 9, 1965. They lived in Oregon and California for the first five years. It was during that time that Jay began his career as a machinist for Beckman Instruments in Fullerton, California. Jay took classes at Fullerton Junior College and became foreman at Beckman.

They bought their 2nd home in Junction City, Oregon where they lived for 44 years until he passed away.

Jay worked for several machine shops in Eugene and Springfield before he decided to start his own business. He and his friend Jim Lay started Precision Machine and Mfg. in 1977 and in 1987 Jay bought his partner out. The business continued to grow and sales continued to climb. Jay worked very hard to make this business a success and sold it in 2003. During that time he managed to get his Private Pilot' s license, his Instrument Rating and his multi-engine rating. He love flying and it was his passion.

Jay also went on numerous hunting and fishing trips to Alaska, Wyoming, and Colorado and of course Oregon. He and his wife bought a 280 acre ranch in Promise, Oregon. They also had a cabin on Wallowa Lake where he wanted the family to be able to enjoy time fishing and relaxing.

Jay was a quiet man. He was genuine and sincere. He was very unassuming and liked to think of himself as just an ordinary guy. He was far from ordinary. He was a great man and he will be missed by his family and all who knew him. Rest in Peace Jay Breaux, we love you!

Memorial Service and Entombment will be held at West Lawn Memorial Funeral Home, Friday June 24th at 1:00pm with viewing at our West Lawn Chapel, 225 S. Danebo Ave., Eugene, Oregon 97402
