Jeffrey Levy Obituary

Jeffrey Alan Levy

1954-2007

Jeffrey Alan Levy, age 53, died December 7th of respiratory failure. Jeff had been fighting the disease Scleroderma for more than ten years.

A loving, devoted father to his daughter Shaina Cheri, husband to Jani, Jeff leaves behind his mother Phyllis, and brother David of Ventura, California; his sister Connie; his sister's in-law, Jeri, Judy and Joyce of Eugene; Jeff's nieces, Robin Elon, Janet Elizabeth, Anna Carmel, Brianna Lynn and Sharon Gellerman of California; and grand nieces Elie, Maya and Amelia, and Annie the cat.

Preceding Jeff in death were his father Elliott, his brother Richard, and his sister Robin.

Jeff's passion was his music. An intelligent and accomplished pianist, guitarist and budding sound engineer, Jeff could be heard around the Springfield/Eugene area playing keyboards with various bands. The son of a big band musician, Jeff loved all types of music from jazz to classical to "good 'ol rock and roll". His YouTube site, lefty318, will show Jeff playing the vibes, an instrument he took up just a year ago because the scleroderma had affected his ability to play piano. Jeff was an excellent cook and would prepare gourmet meals for his wife and daughter. Jeff loved to write and excelled at communicating his thoughts on paper. A news junkie and devotee to The Colbert Report, Jeff's humor and insight made him truly a unique individual.

In lieu of services, donations can be made in Jeff's name to The Scleroderma Foundation and Friends of Buford Park.

I worked with Jeff at Winco Foods for quite a few years and thought he was a very nice and caring individual. I also saw him play at a rock and roll concert .one summer at a Eugene park and really
liked his music. We will all miss him
My prayers go out to his family.

I just wanted to express my condolences to Jeff's family. I played guitar in The Untouchables for a short time. Jeff was our keyboard player. I enjoyed working with Jeff for that year. His wonderful playing, his quiet, but sharp sense of humor, and kind way made it a pleasure to be part of the group.
The Bible holds out the promise of a resurrection, so I know that I will see Jeff again in the near future.
Again, I'm very sorry for your loss. He was a wonderful guy.

I am very sorry to here of Jeffs passing. I knew Jeff from his years at Winco. I was a driver/salesman. I always enjoyed seeing Jeff in the early mornings. He and I discussed family, music, jobs, and world news. He was a hard worker. Humorous. We had some great laughs! One of the nice guys. He was a caring loving father, this I know from our conversations. To Shaina, I am sorry your dad was cheated out of some of his best years. It was one of those "Not Fair" things that life can deal us, these things shouldn't happen to good people. I know he faced Scheloderma much braver than most people could have. I wish I knew him better, but I am proud to count him as a friend. When thinking of Jeff I can vision him joking at Winco or see him playing his music. I saw him play several times. What talent! He showed how much he loved his music when he played. The world could certainly use more people like Jeff, he was a good man. It may sound cliche' but he is no longer suffering. I wish the family the best in these tough days. God Bless.
