I served with Richard on the Oregon State Board of Geology Examiners. He was always fair and thoughtful and a fun colleague. My condolences to the family over his passing.

I loved Richard for his warm, generous laugh which I had the pleasure to hear many times as we pondered the quirks and foibles of working at the university library. I enjoyed having him over to one or two of our lawn parties some time in the late 90's.

I worked in the Oregon library with Richard while I lived in Eugene 1968-70. My husband was studying archival librarianship at the time. We remember Eugene very fondly, and all the people we worked with and met there. Richard was very special and so very good at his chosen profession. We send our condolences to his family and friends.

So very sorry to hear about Richard. I worked in the Oregon library 1968-70 while my husband was in graduate school studying archival librarianship. We think often and fondly of those days.
