Colleen Burke
On the morning of October 18th, 2015 Marcell "Marcy," Colleen Burke loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully at her home in Springfield, OR. Marcy was 64.
Marcy was born in Cottage Grove, OR on July 17, 1951 to Pete and Shirley (Rackley) Ritter. Marcy was the oldest of 5 siblings, 4 brothers and one sister. She spent her childhood in the Cottage Grove and Pleasant Hill area, graduating from Pleasant Hill High School in 1969.
It was in High School where Marcy met the love of her life, Gordon "Jim," Burke. Jim and Marcy were married on July 23rd, 1971 and remained happily married for over 44 years. In 1972, their family was started with the birth of their first son, Joshua. They moved to Springfield in 1973. One year later, Marcy gave birth to twins, Jacob and Joseph.
All three boys were raised in Springfield where Marcy was a stay-at-home mother for several years. She and Jim started their own woodworking business in 1980. After 21 successful years, they closed shop and moved in a new direction. Marcy earned her Associate's Degree from Lane Community College in the Culinary Arts. She was an extraordinary cook and an excellent baker.
Marcy gained employment with the University of Oregon's Food Services Department in 2001 where she remained employed until the time of her passing.
Marcy truly loved her family. She spent countless days at the ballpark watching her kids and grandkids play. She was greatly loved and will be truly missed.
Marcy is survived by her husband Jim, her three sons, and her nine grandchildren, Aurora, Breana, Taytem, Micah, Jocelyn, Tobin, Hope, Isaiah, and Jolianne. Marcy is also survived by her father Pete, her brothers Marvin, Michael, Matthew, Gregory, and her sister Linda. Marcy was preceded in death by her mother Shirley, stepfather Gene, and stepmother Claudia.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Food For Lane County.

I just heard the new of Marcy and I'm so very sad for you and the boys. I'm hoping all the wonderful memories you have of her will bring you some comfort. I can't offer you allot to console you, however I know you and Marcy used to ride motorcycles as I still do, and if you still have your bike or should you get another one, if you would like someone to ride with just to get out and relax and have some company with no pressure, just to enjoy the day, please give me a call. The Cottrell/Hibler families are sorta "new" friends to Marcy and Gordon. It is sad not to be knowing more of Marcy. So sorry for the Burke's family loss. I hope we all will stay connected. Big hugs
