Marion Beard Obituary
Marion H. "Bunky" Beard, age 84, died February 10, 2018 of age related causes. Bunky was born to Lyle and Pauline Beard January 3, 1934 in Eugene, OR. He grew up in Westfir, OR and later moved to Oakridge where he and his wife Patty (West) Beard met and married and raised their two sons, Douglas and Michael Beard. Bunky graduated from Oakridge High School in 1952 and served in the U.S. Army for two years. Patty and Bunky would have celebrated 65 years of marriage this March. Bunky worked for Pope and Talbot and drove logging truck for Jerry Garris for 25 years. He loved fishing, hunting, golfing and raising cattle with the Walking Five. He especially loved spending time with his granddaughters and great grandchildren. He was an active member of the American Legion and Oakridge Museum. Bunky is survived by the love of his life Patty, his son Doug Beard (Meg) of Portland, OR, two granddaughters and five great grandchildren. Bunky was preceded in death by his son, Michael E. Beard and other loving family members. Memorial Service, March 3rd at Oakridge High School Carver Auditorium at 11:00 a.m. and potluck to follow. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Oakridge Food Bank or Oakridge Senior Meals.

I always remember him as being so quiet & polite at hunting camp when he would stop by. His family is lucky to have had him in their lives for so long. Be thankful for all the memories you have of him!
