Olive "Ollie"
Thompson

1916 - 2015

Olive G. Thompson was born on February 26th 1916 in Tallaquah, Oklahoma to Andrew Jackson and Sarah (Willis) Smith. She moved to Delta, Colorado when she was a teenager, where she met Vollie Thompson, her future husband. They married on May 22nd, 1934 in Delta, Colorado. Olive enjoyed canning, gardening and flowers. An avid camper her entire life, she took her last camping trip at the age of 97 years old. In her retirement years, she and Vollie enjoyed wintering in Tortilla Flats, Arizona with extended family and friends. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and especially loved babies. Olive was a member of St. Mark's Catholic church and the Altar Society.

Olive was preceded in death by her husband, Vollie Thompson in 2002, as well as by two of her eight children, Sally Lee and Timothy Shane. Her children Christopher Thompson, Angela Thompson, Jonathan Thompson and Melinda Loew of Eugene, Patrick Thompson of Marcola, and Melissa Geil of Springfield survive her. Olive had ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

A funeral mass with memorial service will be held June 6th, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church in Eugene. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mark Catholic Church or Hospice of Sacred Heart.

Hello Thompson family, I love and miss you all. I sure was sad to hear of Mrs. Thompson's passing. I will forever associate the smell of sun baked apples to the Thompson house in Eugene. This is one small memory from a couple visits that brings back the sounds of their voices. I have nothing but fond memories from so long ago of an amazing and loving woman.
