Phillip Heidt Obituary
Phillip Heidt of Eugene, OR passed away on Feb. 16, 2015 at the age of 93. Phil was born in Havelock, ND on Oct. 28, 1921 to Albinus and Eugenia Heidt. He graduated from St. Pius High School in Shefield, ND.
He then joined the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) and served from 1939-1941, mainly in the Badlands of North Dakota.
He joined the Navy in 1942 and served aboard the USS Ammen from 1943-1945. After the Navy he married the love of his life, Arvilla Schwerbel on Jan. 22, 1946. They were married for 69 years. Because his father was ill, they took over the family farm where wheat, oat and flax were raised. But after his father's death and subsequent hail storms that wiped out the crops, the Heidt's headed to Eugene and began work in the farming division of Montgomery Ward. In 1948, Phil decided that he wanted to be his own boss, so began Home Insulation Company, which is still family-owned today.
Phil was a loving husband, father, grandpa and great- grandpa. He is survived by his wife Arvilla, 8 children, Pam (Dave) from Medford, Jerry (Carol) from Eugene, Colleen (Jerry) from Eugene, Rex (Laura) from Pendleton, Karla (Mike) from Salem, Laure (Ken) from Gearhart, Mark from Florence and Dan (Tammy) from Sheridan. He was Grandpa to 23 grandchildren and Great-grandpa to 36 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Kasper, Jim, Dick, Fr. Charles, Don, and his sisters Sr. Lucille, Sr. Delores, and Leontine.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Ceriak, Adam, Frank, John and Edward.
Phillip was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a supporter of O'Hara Catholic School and Marist Catholic High School.
He was an avid Duck fan and was a season ticket holder for many years. Phil enjoyed golfing, and spending time with his family.
Viewing will be held at the Andreason Funeral Home in Springfield on Sunday Feb. 22nd at 5:00 p.m., followed by the recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church at 1062 Charnelton St. in Eugene at 10:30 am on Monday February 23rd followed by a reception at the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to O'Hara Catholic School, Marist Catholic High School or 1st Way of Eugene.

On behalf of the entire Witecki family, I offer our sincere condolences to Arvilla and the entire Heidt family on the recent loss of your Grand Patriarch, Phil Heidt. I have many fond memories of your generous hospitality and strong friendship over nearly 48 years of time. I know that my parents, Matt & Helen, and my Auntie Ann and Uncle Walter have always spoken so kindly about the times you've had together. They have always asked about you two, whenever we got together. Phil and Arvilla have always provided me with a home away from home during my college years. I appreciate your kindness, your hospitality and your friendship. Phil will be deeply missed by all. Please know that you will all be in my thoughts and prayers as you go through this difficult time.

My sincere condolences to Arvilla and her family on Phil's passing. I feel deeply privileged to have been able to get to know Phil and some of his family and treasure the time I spent with him. Although I did not know him long, I miss him and cannot imagine how much his family must miss him. He made me laugh and smile a lot during my time with him.
