Richard George Miller, 90, passed away peacefully at his home in Lowell, Oregon on April 10, 2021. He was born May 29, 1930 to Harold and Sarah Miller in Arlington, Washington, where he was raised with siblings Robert, Bette, Charles, Mary, and Shirley.
At the age of 19 he joined the U.S. Marine Corps., serving in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a distinguished pistol shooter and achieved the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant. He retired after 28 years, and moved his family to Eugene, Oregon. He then became a mail carrier for the USPS for nearly 20 years.
Richard was a loving and devoted father to Todd Partridge, Lee (Ali) Miller, Jannine (Craig) Johnson, Ladd (Di) Partridge, Kathleen (Ron) Paden, Gerard (Terri) Miller, Jill Partridge, and Rick (Amber) Miller.
On June 29, 1996, Richard married JoAnn Porter, whom he lovingly called Sweetie, and welcomed her children Michael (Amy) Porter, Mindi (Allan) Stroming, and Marcus (Jen) Porter to the family. He and JoAnn enjoyed numerous hunting, fishing, and camping trips in Oregon and Washington. They were actively involved in their community and church and cherished time spent with their large family.
Richard honored God in his love for his family and those around him. He was deeply loved by his wife, children, 39 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, extended family and many friends. He will be greatly missed.
