November 17, 2015

Robert Wayne Mart was born in York, Nebraska. He lived in York until he was 16 when his family moved to Eugene. He joined the Navy a soon as he was 18 and was on the aircraft carrier the Ticonderoga stationed 70 miles from Tokyo. Bob was on the flight deck gassing up the planes as they were taking off. His ship was in Tokyo Bay when they signed the peace treaty.

He married Maxine Hammock June 28, 1947 and their 68th wedding anniversary last June.

Bob worked for the Eugene planing mill for 22 years as a glazier. They then moved to Waldport where he started his own business as a building contractor, moving back to Eugene on retirement.

They were in several churches through the years and going to the First Baptist Church in Springfield. Then settling on the First Baptist Church of Eugene. Bob used his talents in most churches to remodel and maintain them.

Their children are Richard & Sandra Mart and Deborah Mart. They have 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

A private family burial service was held at West Lawn memorial Park Monday November 23, 2015.

A Celebration of Life Service is scheduled at the First Baptist Church of Eugene on Sunday December 6, 2015 at 2:00 pm.

Our thanks go to the Gateway Gardens Memory care for their loving care and to Hospice for the end care.

The family will remember Bob as a loving, caring husband, father and grandfather.
