Robert Roy "Bert" Sanford

1930 - 2019

Robert Roy Sanford passed away on Jan. 9, 2019 Bert was born on November 8, 1930 in Lewistown, MT to Jacob and Catherine Sanford. Bert graduated in 1949 from Fergus High in Lewistown, MT. He then joined the Army and served in France from 1951-1952. He then worked on a ranch and railroad and then moved to Oregon and worked for the Forest Service, Chase Gardens and Central Restaurant Supply.

Bert then married the love of his life, Delores Y. Simmons, on December 19, 1959 in Eugene, OR. They had three kids, Rick Sanford of Springfield, LaDell Schwab and husband Rick of Springfield, and Darlene Corbitt and husband Doug of Shoreline, WA. Along with 4 grandchildren -- Kathlene and her husband Troy, Michael, Logan and Shannon. Also four great-grandchildren, Troy, Ethan, Casey and Chase.

Bert worked at Sacred Heart Hospital for over 30 years as a buyer and in this time he was a BIG fan of the Oregon Women's basketball and softball teams. He was also awarded #1 Fan of the Emerald City Roller Derby girls team. His great enjoyments were his rocks, music and dahlias. Thanks to his great friend Jim Kemper for sharing his love of rocks and music.

Bert is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Delores in 2009. He is survived by his brothers Ronald Sanford of Lewistown, MT and Daniel Sanford of Shelton, WA. Along with his kids, grandkids and great- grandkids.
