Roy McElroy Obituary

Roy "Butch" T.
McElroy

November 15, 1943 -

November 6, 2016

Roy "Butch" T. McElroy died peacefully with his wife and children at his side. Roy was born November 15, 1943 to June and Roy A. McElroy in Tulelake, California.

Roy spent most of his adult life in service of his country. He served multiple tours in Vietnam where he was awarded the Bronze Star, and traveled to many countries including Korea, Panama and Germany. He retired as a First Sergeant after 28 years in the U.S. Army. He met his wife Billie Moss in 2005 and they were married in 2006. They lived in Eugene, Oregon for 7 years before moving to Redmond, Oregon in 2013. Roy enjoyed fishing and could often be found in his woodshop, working on one of his many labors of love.

He is survived by his wife, Billie Moss McElroy; four children: Ronald McElroy, Diane Reynolds, Connie McElroy and Billie Jo Biagi; his sister, Darla Singerton; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his younger sister, Nancy.

Roy was well loved by all who knew him. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his generosity of spirit, his humor, his patience, and the way he loved his family. He will be missed every second of every day.

We would like to thank the staff at Partners in Care Hospice in Bend, OR.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Deschutes Post 4108, at 1836 SW Veterans Way, Redmond, Oregon.
