Our beloved husband, Dad and Papa passed away at home on Tuesday September 22, 2015. He was 81.

Tom grew up in Burbank, CA, where he excelled in athletics, especially track and football. In 1959, he married a remarkable young woman, Gwen Stephens, who showed him "kindness beyond what he'd ever known." Together, they had eight children, 4 sons and 4 daughters. They moved to Eugene, Oregon in the late 1960's, desiring a quieter place to raise their family. He spent most of his life in the building trade. He enjoyed creating beautiful homes, and found most joy in building a strong foundation of faith for his family. Many memories were made racing 3-wheelers at the Oregon Coast, water skiing, driving 'the cloverleaf,' delivering Christmas fruit baskets, and singing along with his ukulele. His legacy of love, service, faith, forgiveness, kindness, generosity and hard work will forever remain in our hearts.

Tom loved the scriptures and his Savior, Jesus Christ. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was happiest when quietly serving others and lifting the burdens of those around him.

Tom is survived by his wife, Gwen, and his 8 children: Sheri Howe (Don), Tom (Linda), Denise Richins (Jeff), Steve (Michelle), Annette Cordle (Bob), Vicki Templeton (Todd), Dan, Dave (Rachel). He was greatly loved by his 26 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Whipped cream and M&M's will always hold a special place in their hearts : )

A memorial service will be held Monday, September 28th, 2015 at 1PM at the LDS Chapel, located at 525 North 66th Street, Springfield, Oregon. Bishop Charles Raney, officiating.
