Travis Roshto Obituary

Travis "Blu" Roshto died in his home on March 2nd 2016, due to complications following a long illness. Blu was 43 Years Old.

Blu was born in Fairfax, Virginia to his Parents Nancy Gildow and Byron Roshto. Blu graduated from Sheldon High School and from College with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Blu held a 2 Stripe Brown Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from NW Martial Arts and was a great Teacher of the Art to his younger half Brother Alec. The two brothers bond with one another was and will always be one of love, respect and true family.

Blu moved with his Mother and Father from Virginia to Maine and finally to Oregon where he lived in Eugene for the majority of his life. Blu has two surviving sons who are Elias and Ari, who live with their mother Caryn. Blu was a great father who often took the boys fishing, boating, camping and hiking and who attended all of their sporting events whenever he could.

Blu was a peaceful warrior, one of strength, wit, compassion and generous heart. He was a loving Son, Father, Brother and the best kind of a Friend that life could provide. Blu is survived by his sons Elias and Ari, his Father Byron Roshto, brother Alec Roshto, Shelley Hudspeth, and a most incredible group of close "brothers and sisters of friendship" with whom he has bonded with for so many great years. To have known Blu is to have known a good human being.

From the book "The Tao of DAD"......

"Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like the hero going home." Blu Roshto lived his life free of fear and full of love.

There will be a Public Celebration of Life for Friends and Family of Blu, on April 9th, 2016 from 12PM to 3PM at Hop Valley Brewing Company at 990 W 1st Avenue, Eugene, Oregon 97401

For the surviving sons Ari and Elias, a "Go Fund Me" account link has been established for their college education. Contributions can be made securely and details are provided on the site.

Blu, I knew you in Maine. You were a great kid and I saw you often with your Dad, my best friend in Maine. Though I haven't seen you in years, I remember you as a good boy, turning into a good man. So sorry to hear of your 'great change' but I know you are at peace now. Namaste, Mal

I got to know him from school. He was more popular than I was, but every time I saw him he was always awesome to me. Even back then, I looked up to him. Every time I see pearl jam I think about him. I find myself with a lump in my throat, he will be missed.

good times in Austin

I met Blu in California when he was on business. We developed a close friendship, one that I will never forget. He always cared for others and was always fun to talk to. I am so saddened to lose a great friend and human being.

I had the honor of meeting Blu through training Jiu jitsu at Nw martial arts. After meeting him we became close friends in a short amount of time. He was a genuine human, who loved and cared about the people in his life immensely. He would always have his friends back, if you needed advice he was always there to lend a shoulder to lean on. He was a good listener and always responded positively. One piece of advice that he gave will always stick with me: "think fast, and talk slow" He was a mentor, a colleague and a good friend and he will be missed deeply.

My deepest sympathy and condolences go out to Ari and Elias and to his family.

Thank you for your friendship Blu, wherever your energy goes you will always be in our hearts.

I first met Blu when he interviewed for a job at the dialysis unit. He impressed me with his enthusiasm and ethics. I will miss his quiet calm and wry humor. I'm sorry for your loss (and ours). The world needs all the Blu Roshto's it can get right now. Dick Harlan
