EATON — David L. "Capt. Dave" Wilson, 67, of Eaton, passed away Friday, Dec. 2, 2016, at the Ohio State Medical Center.
He was born April 4, 1949, in Portland, Indiana, to the late Jesse D. and Genevieve (Thomas) Wilson. Dave was a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War; was a member of the American Legion, West Alexandria; member of the V.F.W., Brookville; a member of the AMVETS and DAV. He was a former Preble County Veterans Service Commissioner; he was a retired Postmaster from the West Alexandria Post Office; was a real estate agent in Preble County; and he also retired as manager of the Lakengren Security.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother Kenny Wilson; and infant sister Judith Wilson.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Terri Wilson of Eaton; son David L. (Davena) Wilson of Eaton; daughter Denise L. Wilson of Findlay; daughter Michelle (Mark) Elliott of Eaton; son Douglas (Amanda) Crowe of Eaton; grandchildren Zac (Amanda) Wilson, Hannah Russell, Keenan Wilson, Breonna Gayhart, Ghye Wilson, Tayla Wilson, Olivia Elliott and Stephen Crowe; sisters Myra Jean Whorton of Texas and Kathy Jo Hubley of Brookville; brothers Dennis (Kathy) Wilson of Bradenton, Florida, Charlie (Mary Jean) Wilson and Gary (Debbie) Wilson both of Brookville; father-in-law Steven Wentzell of Eaton; brother-in-law Steve (Janice) Wentzell of Eaton; sister-in-law Lisa (Paul) Conrod of Lake Charles, Louisiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 8, at 11 a.m. at the Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton. Burial will follow at Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria, OH. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 7, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
